There are many different Instant Messenger applications. Many friends of mine will say, "Oh Instant Messenging .. you mean AOL". There are many other Instant Messenging applications. To name a few .. Miranda, Pidgin, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, Groupwise, ICQ, IRC, MySpaceIM, QQ, SILC, SIMPLE, Skype, Sametime, Trillian, XMPP and Zephyr.
Additionally, there are web-based IM applications for example .. IloveIM, SnIMmer, Mabber, EasyMessenger, IMunitive and MessengerFX.
A few of the most common PC applications are AIM, Yahoo, Google Talk and MSN (now called Windows Live).
If you choose to use AIM for example as the IM application on your PC, the person on the other end must also be using AIM. Additionally, there are IM applications like Meebo that can create a 2-way video conference between all 4 of the above mentioned IM applications.
Since all IM applications need to know the same things (only the screens look different) we will choose one, Windows Live, as an example of the questions you may be asked when you install the IM application of your choice.
Also, there are many different kinds of cameras to choose from. We will look at an install of a Logitech camera as an example of the things camera applications need to know.
NOTE: Normally you leave your camera UNPLUGGED when you first start your camera installation.
2) Download Windows Live Messenger.
3) Install Windows Live Messenger.
